The Shaolin Temple is the cradle of all martial arts with over 1500 years of history. The Shaolin Institute is that authentic institute from China that can and will revitalize the ancient wisdom of China and of the orient for the benefit of future generations to come in the US and around the world.  Tai Chi Master Wang Zheng of China, a well-known Tai Chi master in both Chen and Yang style Tai Chi, is invited to present workshops in Qigong and Tai Chi for health and wellness on site.

The program by the original Shaolin family masters in cooperation with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to promote health and healing to the residences of the greater Atlanta area. It is free to the public, however, during this economic challenge time, we sincerely hope that our participants join our efforts to donate whatever amount you are able to afford directly to St. Jude for the children with devastating sickness.

The Institute will present the famous Shaolin Legacy Show, “A Training Session with the Master”, which is a story of Shaolin high discipline and incredible martial art feats. The exhibition topics will include: teachings of Chan meditation; Wu and He (Zen, Martial and Harmony).  Each segment of the show includes martial art demonstrations of authentic Shaolin Gongfu forms, weapons, and defense pairings that express the harmony of Zen meditation and Gongfu. The Shaolin Institute of Atlanta introduces the wisdom of the orient and providing health and wellness services to the greater community of Atlanta. The Institute programs will include the following: Youth character training, health preservation, natural healing, public safety, self-protection, as well as east and west cultural education.  All the programs are reflected in our slogan of empowering people of the community with healthy bodies and healthy minds.

The Shaolin Legacy Show will begin at 1:30 pm with kids’ character and Kungfu skills training scene that demonstrates to the audience the incredible self discipline, total focus, and self-control required of the art.  This will be followed by adult demonstrations of Kungfu techniques which will include defensive and offensive Shaolin Sanshou techniques as well as ancient arts of weapons. Then a group of health conscious mature students led by Master Wang Zheng from China will display the total relaxation of their mental and physical being through the use of Tai Chi and Qigong.  Master Wang will display a health Qigong method that releases an incredible amount of energy and balance the energy with the healing wave of Qi. The event will create not only a spectacular visual site, but also a living painting of calm and wellness.

The Shaolin Legacy Show will certainly entertain the entire family and provide a fun and exciting time that they will never forget.  It is our goal to inspire and promote the best of the best in the martial arts world.

Tai Chi and Qigong (Chi Kung), which are important parts of the event, are health technologies evolved over several thousand years of research in China and are now growing in popularity worldwide. They are used in hospitals, businesses, schools, prisons and governmental institutions. Tai Chi and Qigong exercise both the mind and the body and research has shown that they reduce anxiety, depression, arthritis, back pain, and other chronic pain conditions. They help to boost the immune system, improve respiratory and circulatory function, burn calories, drastically improve balance, provide cardiovascular benefits, provide powerful stress management tools, and slow aspects of the aging process. As the Time magazine article in August 2002 stated, “Tai Chi Is the Perfect Exercise for seniors. The slow motion martial art builds strength, agility, and best of all, balance”
